How often do you work with the child?

This varies with the needs of each student. The recommended intervention is typically twice per week, for 1-2 hour sessions. In some cases for homeschooling, sessions may range from 3-5 hours in length. We offer group sessions as well.

How long are the tutoring sessions?

Single sessions run 50 minutes to a full hour. Double sessions range from one hour and 50 minutes to 2 full hours. There is a one-hour minimum for tutoring sessions.

What about tutoring children with different abilities (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Gifted and Talented, Specific Learning Disabilities), etc.

I am certified to teach, educate, tutor, and proctor students of all abilities. Most importantly, I have a wealth of knowledge around strategies that will work best for children with varying needs. I also schedule my session for flexibility around executive functioning skills enhancement techniques.

What does a typical tutoring session look like?

At the first session, we meet to discuss your child's educational learning goals and create a learning plan. From that point, you will receive an individualized session breakdown. Check out the Forms Page to see a sample learning plan!

Why is your rate higher than other tutors in the area?

Simply put, my rate reflects the amount of experience I have in my field. It also includes the planning time that I need to individualize lessons for your child. Even if my price does not reflect your budget, I care about your child's progress. Check the Forms Page and the Additional Reading for Parents Page for free content to help you on your journey.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, and PayPal. For all forms of payment besides cash and check, there is a 3.75% processing/administrative fee. For ESA+ payments through Classwallet, there is also a 3.75% processing/administrative fee which goes directly to Classwallet.

Are there any policies I should be aware of?

Tutoring sessions are scheduled at the start of the semester. For rescheduled sessions, there will be no refund but instead an applied credit on your account. For cancellation with less than 24-hour notice or no show, within 15 minutes of scheduled time, there is no credit applied. Keep in mind that when I schedule your child's sessions, I have committed to being present and therefore when a session is cancelled I lose the opportunity to work with other students.

If at any time, either the parent/caregiver or the tutor decides to discontinue tutoring for any reason, all unused sessions will be refunded. Payment is required one week in advance of all sessions.

Are you a certified teacher?

I am a certified teacher in the state of North Carolina. My certification allows me to proctor tests as well as to be a teacher of record if needed. I also hold a Master's Degree in Special Education with an endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorders.

I'm interested in your tutoring services. How do I get started?

Great question!  The best way to get started is to contact us to schedule your first session, which includes an intake process and a discovery session to create an individualized learning plan for your child.
